Chinese Pictorial Art as Viewed by the Connoisseur by Robert van Gulik
Dutch historian. novelist and diplomat Robert van Gulik’s deep study of Chinese art, and probably the most scarce of all this wonderful writer’s fascinating works. This is the first edition produced in a limited run of 950 numbered copies (number 518) in 1958, published by the Instuto Italiano per il Medio Estreme Oriente in Rome. Internally the book is in an excellent state, though there some significant tears to the dust jacket. This copy also includes the owner’s signature of the famous American art historian Sherman E.
